Why Have Diabetes School

Diabetes & Endocrinology Consultants believes that patient education is a crucial part of the medical care of patients with diabetes.  Our goal is to provide patients and their families with the knowledge and skills necessary to achieve and maintain good health and minimize complications.  Since diabetes affects every aspect of life, patients need to have the information to make good choices about their diet, medications, and activity on a day to day basis.  More than any other disease, diabetes requires active participation from the patient to achieve success in management of the disease.   Knowledge of the disease will empower patients to improve their overall health and control their diabetes.  This class will provide participants a basic education in diabetes self-management.  Putting this information into practice should be the ultimate goal of the participants.

Funding

The cost of the program is fully covered by Diabetes & Endocrinology Consultants, P.C. and the sponsors listed on the inside of this brochure.  There is no charge to patients or their families for participation.

Admission is free, but seating is limited.  You must call Dr. Lucas’ office at

252-222-5700 Ext 22 and ask to have your name added to the list of attendees.
