What's NEW

Dr. Lucas and the entire DEC family want to welcome Kristin to the practice. We could not be happier that Kristin returned home to Morehead City and joined the DEC team. Dear Patients & Families, I am extremely excited and honored to be joining the team at Diabetes Endocrinology Consultants. I wanted to introduce myself so that I will not be a stranger to you when you meet me at the office. I grew up in Morehead City and always knew that I would one day return to the area to be closer to my family and the ocean. I was born right here in town at Carteret General Hospital. I attended nursing school at East Carolina University. After graduating from college, I moved to Raleigh to work as a Registered Nurse at Rex Hospital while pursuing my Master’s Degree in Nursing at ECU to become a Family Nurse Practitioner. My five years of bedside nursing experience prior to becoming a Nurse Practitioner prepared me to thoroughly meet and understand the needs of my patients. I recently married my college sweetheart, David Ferree, after dating for nearly six years. He grew up in Highlands, NC which is a small mountain town. We met at East Carolina University and are both big Pirate fans! We are thrilled to be relocating to the beach. We have two Siberian Huskies, Bigz and Dakoda, who are also looking forward to living on the coast. David and his father recently started a new company called Anson Belt & Buckle. Please feel free to check out their website at www.ansonbeltandbuckle.com. I can’t wait to meet all of you soon! Sincerely, Kristin Gainey Ferree, MSN, RN, FNP

We have also installed a brand new GE Medical Systems Lunar Prodigy Advance Bone Densitometry testing machine. This new machine is much faster than my previous bone density machine and requires almost no repositioning of patients during the test. This machine does a far superior job of evaluating and tracking patients at risk for osteoporosis. It is so much faster we are offering bone density testing WITHOUT the need for an appointment. These bone density scans can now be done on a walk-in basis. |

| Dear Patients and
Friends:
February 25, 2004 I am pleased to announce that on March 17, 2004, I will be leaving Down East Medical Associates and establishing a new medical practice specializing in diabetes and all endocrine related conditions. If you wish to continue to see me as your physician after March 16, 2004, it will be necessary to sign and return the enclosed AUTHORIZATION FOR RELEASE OF MEDICAL RECORDS. If you already have an appointment with me after March 16 scheduled at Down East Medical, that appointment is still valid, and we will be expecting you for that appointment at the new office. The office staff is dedicated to providing quality healthcare and making your experience at our new office as pleasant and productive as possible. I can’t guarantee that someone will always be able to answer the phone on the first ring, but we will have twice as many phone lines as employees. We are also very excited about our new computer system which will include electronic medical records. This system should cut down on paper and speed information back to referring physicians. I will also be able to access your medical records from anywhere I have access to a computer. Things will really be different; we will have laptop computers and be making notes about patients while we are talking in the exam rooms. I promise we will never check e-mail or the weather on the laptop computers! The new
office is just down the street from the current office in
Makenzie Square. You can see it from the current office. The
new office is nice, but it is just temporary. We have just
bought a piece of property ar 611 N. 35th Street
between the Daycare center and The Sports Center. Later this year we will
start construction on our very own building and plan to occupy
it sometime in 2005. That building will more than double our
space and provide private parking for the patients. You can see
drawings of the building on our web site at
We all look forward to seeing you at the new office! Click here to print the medical records release form.Click here to download the medical records release form.Sincerely, K. Jean Lucas, M.D. |
